The Hispanic Outreach Liaison will provide assistance to the Coordinator of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs/Bilingual Recruiter of University College at Hampton University with institutional, public, and community relations activities with an emphasis on increasing enrollment of Hispanic students and individuals to University College.  Successful candidate will promote the Hispanic/Latino Initiative of University College at Hampton University and will strengthen the credibility and establish and maintain a mutual understanding between University College and Hampton University’s main campus.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Duties/Knowledge:

  1. Works with the Coordinator of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs/Bilingual Recruiter, to increase enrollment and serves as spokesperson to the community in assigned areas to build and maintain relationships while promoting the University College Hispanic/Latino Initiative.

  2. Develops opportunities to give speeches, workshops, conferences among the Hispanic Community of Hampton Roads.

  3. Coordinates schedules and organizes outreach events, activities and academic programs under the leadership and supervision of the Coordinator of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs/Bilingual Recruiter.

  4. Implements public relations strategies that will boost the enrollment of the Hispanic/Latino student enrollment at University College.

  5. Keeps the Coordinator of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs/Bilingual Recruiter informed of planned activities and outcomes to facilitate Marketing initiatives.

  6. Duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs/Bilingual Recruiter.

Qualifications

- Associate’s degree with a minimum three years of experience in public relations or equivalent     required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English, appropriate to situation and objectives.
-Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting services.
-Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, website maintenance, audio/visual equipment, Power Point presentations and various presentation media.
-Knowledge of multi-cultural beliefs and practices within the Hispanic Community.
-Ability to work comfortably in Hispanic multicultural and multi-denominational environment.
