Participate in the development and delivery of reference services to the user community. Promote knowledge of information resources and the development of information literacy skills. Participate in service and program activities that advance the strategic goals of the library. Part-time schedule is Tuesday- Thursday 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2019.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide reference services to the user community using established and emerging methods of communication.
  2. Assist students, faculty, and staff with the effective use of information and learning resources.
  3. Supervise library operations during evening hours and inform the director of incidents or issues that may need to be addressed.
  4. Assist library users at the circulation desk as needed.
  5. Make recommendations for the development of the reference collection.
  6. Stay abreast of emerging technologies that impact the use and delivery of information resources.
  7. Participate in evaluation and assessment activities relative to the delivery of services for reference. Maintain statistical data and prepare reports relative to reference activities.
  8. Serve as a member of the reference team with shared responsibility for activities.
  9. Participate in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures that ensure the effective and efficient operation of the library.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned to advance the strategic goals of the library in connection with the strategic goals of the University.


  • ALA-accredited MLS.

  • At least 1 year experience as a librarian.

  • Knowledge of issues and trends relative to reference activities.


  • Ability to develop and promote instructional initiatives.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Must have a strong commitment to service and teamwork.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of data input accuracy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
