The William R. Harvey Leadership Institute consists of multi-faceted students who are always involved in numerous significant activities. One of our fellows, Morgan Marie Grayned, is a sophomore 5-year Master’s of Business Administration major and Leadership Studies minor from Atlanta, Georgia. She is active in the Terpsichorean Dance Company and the NBMBAA.

The weekend of November 30, 2012 Morgan  had the honor of attending BET’s 34th Annual Event, UNCF’s An Evening of the Stars. General Motors sent Morgan to Pasadena, California for the “time of her life.” She was able to thank those who made large strides in raising money for the United Negro College Fund and General Motors, she was also able to network with an array of successful business people, including celebrities who inspired her tremendously, and celebrate her hard work which led to her award.

Morgan was awarded General Motors Buick Achievers Scholarship during her senior year of high school. This is a STEM-based renewable scholarship of up to $25,000, available to high school seniors and current undergraduate students. Morgan says that she is, “grateful for the scholarship because it means absolutely no financial worries.” She also says, “That it is imperative that minority students take advantage of these opportunities because higher education is a necessity.” Morgan encourages that college students continue to search for funding; “they are out there.”
