The William R. Harvey Leadership Institute has decided to take a new initiative in highlighting the accomplishments of its students. Every month, a leadership fellow will be chosen as the “Leadership Fellow of the Month” for his/her outstanding acts on campus and in the local community. This month, the William R. Harvey Leadership Institute would like to commend William Seth Martin for his ideal leadership.
William Seth Martin, a sophomore broadcast journalism major and leadership studies minor from Little Rock, Ark., has shown a great deal of phenomenal leadership. Martin currently serves as the Chair of LEAD – an organization formed to assist in relief efforts across the world. He also holds the position of the president of Chapel Assistants at the Hampton University Chapel.
“I've served with numerous organizations that helped to beautify the community as well as helping to educate young students in the community. My preaching ministry has also been a huge part of my contribution to the community,” said Martin.
The fact that Martin considers himself blessed helps to serve as a motivator. “My motivation is the bible. God not only equips me with the necessary tools I need to accomplish tasks, but also provides me with the motivation to do so. I'm motivated because I'm seeking to please him,” stated Martin.
Martin has had a tremendous impact in the lives of others because his passion and morals are shown through his leadership. His advice to his classmates and peers is to think of others before themselves because it’s the right thing to do. Also, stay humble!
“William Seth Martin exemplifies the ideals that we expect of students in the Leadership Institute. He is conscientious, thoughtful, humble and concerned about others. I congratulate him in this honor and expect that he will have many more,” added Professor Battinto Batts.
