Celebrities, Officials Pay Tribute to Nation's 44th President and Other Scholars at Inaugural Event

Hampton, VA - Nearly 1,000 guests will toast the nation's preeminent scholars and education leaders at the "Dreams from My Father" American Scholars Inaugural Ball on Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. at the five-diamond-rated Four Seasons Hotel, 2800 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. The event, co-chaired by Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey will be a celebration of academic achievement across generations to mark the inauguration of constitutional law scholar Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States.

Nationally-syndicated radio personality Russ Parr will serve as master of ceremonies.  CNN and MSNBC on-air political consultant and Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons, U.S. Congressman Gregory Meeks (D-NY), R&B vocalists Macy Gray and D’Angelo, actress Tatiana Ali, author Omar Tyree, and other celebrity guests will honor some of the nation’s best and brightest minds in academia and education advocacy.
