HU Welcomes Jesse Jackson to Discuss MLK's Dream
Hampton, VA -Hampton University will welcome the Rev. Dr. Jesse Jackson to Ogden Hall on Friday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. Jackson will address the topic, “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Dream and Beyond.” The event is free and open to the public.
Jackson, the founder and president of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, is one of America’s foremost civil rights, religious and political figures. Over the past 40 years, he has played a pivotal role in virtually every movement for empowerment, peace, civil rights, gender equality, and economic and social justice.
Jackson has been called the "Conscience of the Nation" and "The Great Unifier," challenging America to be inclusive. He is known for bringing people together, across lines of race, culture, class, gender and religion.
Jackson will also be a panelist at the 2007 Black State of the Union hosted by Tavis Smiley on Feb. 10 at the Hampton University Convocation Center.
