HU Christian Group Hosts Youth Conference

Hampton, VA - The Hampton University Student Christian Association (S.C.A.) is hosting The Protégé 4:12 Youth Conference Feb. 8-9 on the Hampton University campus.  The event is for youth between the ages of 12-18, and is aimed at allowing them to understand who they are in God’s eyes. Abstinence is another key theme.

The Feb. 8 kickoff program begins at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Poetry, song and dance will be used to express how God has worked in the lives of youth. The Feb. 9 opening session is at 9 a.m. in the Memorial Church. The day will include seminars addressing issues such as identity and self-confidence. Also, lunch will be provided. The day will end with a panel discussion, during which youth can ask questions about sex and relationships.

The S.C.A. is an organization that allows Christian college students to tell the world about Jesus. Hampton S.C.A. President Brandice Hudson said the event’s purpose is to encourage young people to live a life of abstinence.

“(The program) stems from my own personal testimony of abstinence and my college experience,” Hudson said. “I want youth to have the same opportunity to remain sexually pure as I did.”

On site registration is available the day of the event for $15. For more information about Protégé 4:12 contact Brandice Hudson at 703.282.3261 or hu_sca@yahoo.com.
