HU to Host Adventures in Engineering for Local Youth
Hampton, VA - The Society of Women Engineers, Hampton University Student Section along with the Region E Members at Large section will host the Adventures in Engineering program on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hampton University School of Engineering and Technology, Olin Engineering Building.
The event has been designed as a career guidance project, for 50 children in grades 3-8. The program will enlighten and inform young minds of the enormous opportunities of engineering careers available to them in the next millennium.
“Adventures in Engineering” will include live science and engineering demonstrations, hands-on workshops, educational materials and posters, engineering mentoring, career counseling and video. Children will be exposed to thought-provoking engineering projects representing many engineering & technology disciplines including chemical, civil, industrial, mechanical, electrical, aerospace and naval architecture.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all participants. Children will also have the opportunity to win door prizes. Registration begins on March 10, and will continue until March 31. There is a $2 registration fee and students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
