High School Day to Highlight HU Legends

Hampton, VA - On Friday, April 6, Hampton University will host the 29th annual High School Day, sponsored by the Office of Admissions. All high school students are invited to come and experience "Hampton’s Walk on the Blue Carpet: It’s a Dreamworld - Where Legends are Made."

The free all-day affair will be divided into two sessions. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the morning program will start at 9 a.m. in the Hampton University Convocation Center.  During the day, the university’s schools and departments, faculty members, and deans will be available to answer questions. Prospective students will be encouraged to visit the school and department that they are interested in, as well as talk with representatives, meet current students, and take a tour of the campus. The afternoon session will offer a fun-filled ending to an informative day. The session will have creative presentations by student organizations.

Students are invited to come and learn about some of Hampton University’s prominent alumni. Some of the legends that were made at Hampton include Booker T. Washington; Derrick Allen-Rick Mahorn, former NBA professional athlete; Kimberly Oliver, 2006 National Teacher of the Year; and actress/comedian Wanda Sykes.

“The purpose of High School Day is to give students an up-close and personal look at what the university has to offer,” said Angela Boyd, director of admissions. “Faculty will be available to discuss academic options with students and their parents.”
