HU Implements Emergency Notification System

Hampton, VA - In a continuing effort to focus on campus safety and students' well-being, Hampton University has enhanced its Emergency Notification/Preparedness procedures. HU has implemented an Emergency Notification System (ENS) as an additional method to notify all students, faculty, and staff of emergencies or special notices. This system will allow the University to broadcast text messages to cell phones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and deliver messages to landline phones, email addresses, pagers and voicemails.

On Thursday, March 20, HU will conduct a test of the Emergency Notification System. Notification testing will include the following: university and external emails, university and home landlines, cellular text messaging, WHOV radio station announcements and announcements on the HU cable television station.

There are currently 17,476 records in the system. HU students, faculty and staff may log on to HU Pipeline, Blackboard or the HamptonYou portal and click on the Emergency Notification Form to enter contact information into the alert system.
