"Mortgage Guru" to visit HU

Hampton, VA - The 2008 "Get Your Money Straight" Wealth 'N Real Estate seminar featuring Lynn Richardson will visit Hampton University at 4 p.m. April 3 in the McGrew Towers Conference Center.

Richardson's talk is part of the 2008 "Get Your Money Straight" Historically Black College and University Wealth 'N Real Estate tour. Also known as "The Mortgage Guru," Richardson hosts a radio show 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (cst) Sundays on greater Chicago's 1690 am WVON. The program is called "Wealth 'N Real Estate."

In 2004, Richardson, also a motivational speaker, wrote and published her first book, Living Check to Monday: The Real Deal About Money, Credit and Financial Security, which, to date, has sold more than 3,000 copies. The HU senior class is sponsoring the Chicago native's visit to campus.

HU Senior Class President Maurice Kuykendoll said it's important for students to have this level of education. "We get a lot of academic instruction, but it's also important to know about buying real estate and those types of things," Kuykendoll said. "When I found out about this tour, I thought it was important not just for seniors, but for the entire student body to be financially literate."

Richardson's other stops on the HBCU Wealth Tour include Howard University, Spellman College, and Morehouse College.
