HU S.C.A.
Hosts Collegiate Kingdom Gala 2007
Hampton, VA -On April 7 the Hampton University Student Christian Association (S.C.A.) will host the 1st Annual Collegiate Kingdom Gala in the Student Center Ballroom at 6:30 p.m. S.C.A. invites all local collegiate Christians to enjoy a festive night filled with live music, dancing, a special guest speaker, and a catered meal. Attire is semi-formal/formal. Tickets are $35 per person.
The event is a part S.C.A.'s initiative to strengthen
relationships between student Christians and advance the
Kingdom of God.
"Students take part in so many ministries, in so
many organizations and churches," said Daniel Thomas IV, Mr. S.C.A. "This
event is going to unite all of us collegiate 'Kingdom
Builders.'"
2 Timothy 4:18 is the foundation for the gala's "Kingdom" theme. "And
the lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve
me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and
ever. Amen!"
Bishop Felton Hawkins, Founder and Senior Pastor of
Full Gospel Kingdom Church in Newport News, Va., will
be the guest speaker for the evening. Hawkins, also an
HU student, brings over 21 years of experience to the
topic of Kingdom living. College students in Hawkins' congregation appreciate
his "practical" and "straight-to-the-point" preaching
style.
The Kingdom Gala 2007 provides a wholesome, Godly
alternative to the average college party scene.
"A lot of Christian
students have been waiting for this," said
Brandice Hudson, Miss S.C.A. "We like to dress up and socialize
with our peers, but we want to do it in a safe environment
that we're comfortable in."
The HU S.C.A is devoted to creating,
maintaining, and extending high standards of Christian
character and fellowship throughout the university and
community. The organization facilitates weekly campus
bible studies, community service, fellowships, and revivals. S.C.A is
known for its Project Sunshine, Psalm 149 Liturgical Dance, and Wednesday
Night Fight ministries. Rev. Dr. Timothy T. Boddie, University Chaplin
and Minister Raymond C. Cullen, Harkness Hall Director, serve as advisors.
