HU CELEBRATES JAZZ APPRECIATION MONTH
Hampton, VA -Hampton
University’s Department of Music is moving to the beat of the
harmonious jazz sounds starting Monday, April 4 through Friday, April
8. In honor of Jazz Appreciation Month, HU will be celebrating its’ Annual
Week of Jazz with a variety of musical events. Nightly performances
will feature great musicians that range from high school students
to college students to professionals. All performances are open to
the public and will be held in the Little Theatre in Armstrong Hall
on the campus of HU. Most performances are free of charge. The performances
are as follows:
Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m.: The Marcus Roberts Trio, opened by a
special guest. $1 with
HU ID card and $5 for general public.
Tuesday, April 5 at 8 p.m.: Jam Session by HU Jazz Combos and various
collegiate and
high school ensembles. Admission is free.
Wednesday, April 6 at 8 p.m.: HU Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Admission
is free.
Thursday, April 7 at 8 p.m.: HU Jazz Ensemble. $1 with HU ID card
and $5 for general
public.
Friday, April 8 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: HU Jazz Festival. Admission is
free.
8 p.m.: High School Jazz Festival. Admission is free.
Celebrate and enjoy the sultry sounds of talented HU and local high
school students during Jazz Appreciation Week. Sit back, relax and
listen to the rhythmic music and appreciate the wonderful jazz. For
