Hampton, VA - Hampton
University’s Department of Music and the University Choirs
will present their Annual Spring Choral Music Concert on Monday,
April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the HU Memorial Church. The house doors
will open promptly at 6:45 p.m. Admission for the concert is an open

The performance will feature The Hampton University Choir and the
world-renowned Hampton University Concert Choir. This year, the choirs
will present Negro Spirituals from famed African-American composers/arrangers
Roland Carter, Wendell Whalum, Moses Hogan, Joseph Joubert, Diane
White, William Henry Smith and Raymond Wise. The concert will also
introduce new arrangements by Marques Garrett, a junior music education

will be recorded live and reproduced as a CD.
The Hampton University Concert Choir is the primary touring ensemble
for the University. The HU Concert Choir has been prominently featured
on the public television program Black Voices filmed in Las Vegas,
Nev., and at the inauguration of President William Jefferson Clinton.
Additionally, the HU Concert Choir has previously performed at St.
Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, the Lewiston Council
on the Arts in Lewiston, N.Y., and for the Canadian Arts Foundation
