HU Welcomes Jesse Jackson for Commencement

Hampton, VA - Hampton University welcomes Jesse Jackson as the speaker for the 137th Annual Commencement on May 13 at 10 a.m. in Armstrong Stadium.

Jackson, the founder and president of the RainbowPUSH Coalition, is one of America’s foremost civil rights, religious and political figures. Over the past 40 years, he has played a pivotal role in virtually every movement for empowerment, peace, civil rights, gender equality, and economic and social justice.

Jackson has been called the "Conscience of the Nation" and "The Great Unifier," challenging America to be inclusive. He is known for bringing people together, across lines of race, culture, class, gender and religion.
