HU Offers Students, Faculty and Staff Relief from High Gas Prices
Hampton, VA - In an effort to provide Hampton University faculty, staff and students relief from the high cost of gasoline, the HU Administrative Council has approved a change in the Summer Session class schedule from a five-day schedule to a four-day schedule. In addition, approximately 500 HU educational support staff employees will receive a gas purchasing card to purchase $25 of gas in June, July and August for a total of $75.
“In these difficult economic times, we wanted to offer some assistance to our students, faculty and staff,” said HU President Dr. William R. Harvey.
The adjusted schedule will eliminate the need for some faculty and students to commute to campus on Fridays. The change will affect courses offered for Session II, Pre-College and Session III. Beginning on Tuesday, June 17 the times for all three-credit courses were extended an additional 20 minutes.
In some departments due to the nature of the discipline, it will not be possible to adjust all course offerings to the four-day schedule. The following programs will continue to meet on a five-day schedule: all four credit science courses, courses in the School of Pharmacy and the Department of Communicate Sciences and Disorders and all special summer programs.
All HU administrative offices will remain open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. For additional information regarding the summer schedule, please contact the Summer Session office at 757-727-5237.
