HU Announces Homecoming 2005 Activities

Hampton, VA - Hampton University will host another exciting homecoming this year. Homecoming 2005 will be filled of fun activities scheduled from Wednesday, Oct. 19 – Sunday, Oct. 23.

The Hampton Pirates are enthusiastic and hope to win the homecoming football game against South Carolina State University on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 2:00 p.m. The Pirates won last year’s homecoming game with a 24-17 victory over Bethune-Cookman College. The newly crowned Miss Hampton University, Antoinette Knox, will be officially introduced at Saturday’s game.

The homecoming events are as scheduled:

Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005
COMEDY SHOW – 8 p.m., located in Ogden Hall featuring comedians from BET Comic View. Admission is $8 in advance, $10 at the door and $20 for VIP, which includes priority seating and a meet and greet session with the comedians immediately following the show. Refreshments will be served for VIPs.

Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005
GOSSIP Fashion Show – 7 p.m. in the HU Convocation Center. Admission is $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

Friday, Oct. 21, 2005
BAZAAR – 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., located outside of the Student Center. Admission is free.
GREEK STEP SHOW – 7 p.m., located in the HU Convocation Center. Admission is $10 in advance for all Greeks, $15 in advance for non-Greeks; $15 at the door for Greek, $20 at the door for non-Greeks.
ALUMNI HOSPITALITY - 6:30 pm. – 1:30 a.m., located in the HU Student Center. A $5 donation is requested, and food and beverage will be provided.

Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005
HOMECOMING PARADE – 10 a.m., Armistead Ave and Settlers Landing Road.
MAJOR DONOR RECEPTION – 12 p.m., located in the Student Center Ballroom. The event is by invitation only.
FOOTBALL GAME – 2 p.m., Hampton University vs. South Carolina State University.
HOMECOMING CONCERT featuring Ruben Studdard and Lil Scrappy at 7 p.m. in the HU Convocation Center. Admission is $25 and $30; $15 for students with student identification.
“DESS TO IMPRESS” ALUMNI HOMECOMING DANCE – 10 p.m. – 2 a.m., located in the HU Student Center Ballroom. A $20 donation is requested.

Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005
WORSHIP SERVICE – 11 a.m., Memorial Church.
HU GOSPEL CONCERT – 3 p.m., Memorial Church.
