Imani Winds to Perform Live at HU Ogden Hall

Hampton, VA - Imani Winds, a woodwind quintet, will perform live in concert at Hampton University’s Ogden Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from noon to 1 p.m. as part of the Virginia Arts Festival’s 2006 WorldClass® Education Programs.

Imani Winds is a woodwind quintet featuring five accomplished musicians of African-American and Latin heritage.  Their mission is to expand the boundaries between European, African and American musical traditions.  Their performances explore diverse cultural backgrounds in an engaging and accessible format.  Imani Winds has established a distinct presence in the classical music world for their dynamic playing, innovative programming and inspirational outreach programs.

The Virginia Arts Festival WorldClass® Education Program provides students of Hampton Roads and Southeastern Virginia the opportunity to experience first-hand some of the greatest living artists and performers.  The Imani Winds tour is funded by a grant from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program.
