UNCF Tour Comes to HU

Hampton, VA -The United Negro College Fund’s (UNCF) Empower Me Tour will be at Hampton University Nov 10. The event is being hosted by 11 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and will focus on six topics: health and wellness, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, the environment, professional development and service and philanthropy. The event begins at 9 a.m. in the HU Student Center.

The day’s events include information sessions for students, as well as a panel discussion entitled, “Purpose, Passion, Power – Successful Entrepreneurs Doing It Their Own Way.” The season four winner of “The Apprentice,” Randal Pinkett, will moderate the panel, which begins at 5 p.m. Other celebrity entrepreneurs, including comedian and actress Sheryl Underwood, Attorney and Talk Show Host Warren Ballentine and TV One’s Make-Over Manor Life Coach Dee Marshall will be part of the panel. After the discussion, singing artist Ledisi will host a listening party at 8 p.m. in the student center lounge. To register for the free event, visit www.empowermetour.org.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. corporate booths will be set up in the student center atrium and workshops will be ongoing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the building. The tour is open to the public, and is produced in partnership with Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation. UNCF is the largest provider of college financial assistance to minority and low-income students.
