HU President Presents Leadership Model at Summit

Hampton, VA -Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey will host the 9th Annual Executive Leadership Summit at Hampton University on Nov. 5 and 6.

The Leadership Summit was established as a means of reaching out to individuals at colleges, universities and other institutions who aspire to be executive leaders. Harvey contributes much of his success as chief executive officer to ten fundamental leadership principles, which he has encompassed into the Harvey Executive Leadership Model. Thus, Harvey made a personal commitment to reach out to others who aspire to hold leadership positions. The summit is all about “Passing the Executive Torch."

" I am honored to have served as president of Hampton University for 32 years," Harvey said. "This conference has allowed me to reach out to others who aspire to hold leadership positions and share with them my executive leadership model."

Throughout his career as President of Hampton University, Dr. Harvey has demonstrated a strong commitment to the professional leadership of others. Fourteen individuals on Hampton University Administration Councils have been propelled into the position of president at diverse universities as well as other executive leadership positions within the corporate sector.

"More than ever, today's world requires for leaders to implement strategies that work," Harvey said. "The Executive Leadership Summit provides a forum for aspiring CEO's to learn from a diverse group of effective leaders who have achieved extraordinary results."

At the Summit, recently appointed presidents and chancellors, provost and assistant provosts, vice presidents, deans and assistant deans, government personnel, and other appointed executives will be provided with professional development training from a cadre of highly successful higher education leaders and government officials at the Summit.

Bessie Sherman, director of Minority University Outreach Office and Workforce Management; Dr. John Silvanus Wilson, Jr., executive director of White House Initiative on HBCUs and Dr. Leslie Baskerville, president and CEO of the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education will be at the Summit and will give remarks.
