CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH AT HU
Author Nathan McCall to discuss racial profiling

Hampton, VA - On Feb. 11 Nathan McCall will give an address at 6:30 p.m. in Ogden Hall on the Hampton University campus. McCall will discuss how recent world events have affected African-Americans and racial profiling.

McCall is best known for writing the book "Makes Me Wanna Holler: A Young Black Man in America" and "What's Going On." "Makes Me Wanna Holler" became a New York Times bestseller and Blackboard Book of the Year. These books reflect on the issues facing African-American men today.

McCall earned a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1981 from Norfolk State University. McCall has also been a reporter for the Washington Post and had a three-year position with Emory University's journalism program.

  • Feb. 12 - Hot Issues Forum "Faking the Funk: The Middle Class Black Folks" at 6:30 p.m. In the Student Center Theatre
  • Feb. 14 - History and Importance of HBCUs at 6 p.m. in the Harvey Library Meeting Room
  • Feb. 16 - "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide" at 7 p.m. in Ogden Hall
  • Feb.18 - Forum: Blacks in Politics at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Theatre
  • Feb.18 - Black History Month Hair-itage Show at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center Cyber Lounge
  • Feb. 19 - Blacks and Television at 8 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom
