HU TO HOLD CHARTER SCHOOL INFORMATION SESSION

Hampton, VA - The Hampton University Charter School for Math, Science and Technology (HU-MST) will hold an information session for prospective students, parents and the public at 6 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the Eva C. Mitchell Building on campus.

HU-MST will be housed in the Eva C. Mitchell Building and will enroll sixth and seventh grade students for the September 2002 school year. The school plans to enroll eighth graders in 2003.

Parents, teachers, students and interested community members can gather information about registration, the lottery system for the 120 available spaces, the transportation that will be provided by the university and the uniform requirements. The deadline to submit HU-MST applications is Jan. 31.

HU-MST Charter School is a project between the school district and the university. Any interested student eligible to attend Hampton City Schools may apply. The program is designed for students who plan to attend college to focus on math, science and technology and to build ethics, morals and character.
