HU WELCOMES KEMBA SMITH

Hampton, VA - The Tampax Total You Tour 2001-2002 is touring Historically Black Colleges and will be at Hampton University tonight at 6 p.m. in Ogden Hall.

The featured speakers are Mocha Lee, Dr. Ro and Kemba Smith. The event focuses on the lifestyles of young Black women through talk and entertainment.

As a Hampton University sophomore in 1990, Smith fell in love, carried some of her boyfriend's drug money and was sentenced to 24 1/2 years in prison. Then Smith became a cause celebre in federal lockdown. Smith's sentence was commuted on December 22, 2000, one of the last acts of the exiting former President Clinton. Since her release, Smith has dedicated her life to social and political advocacy for change in current drug sentencing laws. She also devotes her time to motivational speaking, touring the country to educate youth about the dangers and perils that await them as a consequence of making poor choices.

Lee is fast becoming a national authority in the world of fitness and health. In 1999, Lee was crowned Ms. Galaxy Champion, she also is the host of "Heart & Soul", the exclusive fitness show of Black Entertainment Television.

Dr. Rovenia Brock, co-host of BET's health and fitness show, Heart and Soul, BET NEWS Medical Correspondent, contributing nutrition editor to Heart and Soul Magazine, and Nutrition Contributor to ABC NEWS' "Lifetime Live", has a serious mission in life.to place real health solutions on the plate of the fast-paced world.
