FORMER NASA ASTRONAUT TO ADDRESS STUDENTS AT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Hampton, VA - The Fifth Annual Student Leadership Summit will focus on helping young people identify and define their leadership abilities. The Summit, which will be held Nov. 16-18 on Hampton University's campus and the Quality Inn Hotel and Conference Center, will feature prominent national and local pacesetters, educators and student leaders. The Summit is open to high school juniors and seniors.

The special guest speaker is Capt. Winston Scott, former NASA astronaut and United States Navy captain. Scott served as a mission specialist on the space shuttles Endeavor and Columbia and is presently serving as vice president of student affairs at Florida State University. Scott is scheduled to speak at 8 p.m. on Nov. 17.

Workshop sessions will focus on increasing young people's self-awareness as it relates to leader development and exploring themselves in relation to others. This workshop will help the young leaders explore their own values and beliefs and its relationship to character, which is the foundation of leadership.

 
 

The registration fee is $150, which includes hotel accommodations for three nights, meals, workshop materials and admission to a Hampton University football game; the deadline is Oct. 31.
