HU TO HOST NCMA CONFERENCE
Hampton, VA - Hampton University will host the National Campus Ministry Association's Annual Conference July 7-11 in the McGrew Towers Conference Center.
Keynote speakers for the conference includes Sharon Daloz Parks, an author known for young adults' faith development, preacher, pastor and theologian John Kinney, and Douglas Oakman, chair of the Religion department at Pacific Luthern University.
The theme for this year's conference is "Come to the Waters: Living Out Our Baptism through Campus Ministry."
Clinics begin Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with the first workshop," Getting Started in Campus Ministry," which is designed for newcomers and recent returnees to higher education ministry. Monday's workshop, "An Ethic for Enemies and Adversaries: Forgiveness in Politics," begins at 1:30 with a presentation by Doug Tanner, Executive Director of the Faith and Politics Institute.
"Promoting Interracial Cooperation and Conflict Resolution on Campus," "Sexuality and Spirituality in Your Campus Ministry," "Life in the Muddle of the Middle: Stated and Unstated Expectations of Campus Ministries and a Few Things You Can Do about Them," are among some of the topics to be discussed.
There will be on-site registration at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the McGrew Towers Conference Center.
