  Hampton, Va. - Renowned praise and worship artist Ron Kenoly will perform at Charles H. Flax Memorial Concert, a part of the Hampton University Ministers' Conference and Choir Directors'-Organists' Guild Workshop. HU PHARMACY SCHOOL RECEIVES $2.1 MILLION TO STUDY ECSTASY
  Hampton, Va. - The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Hampton University School of Pharmacy recently received a $2.1 million award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse at National Institutes of Health to study the causes of the symptoms associated with the drug MDMA (Ecstasy). MDMA is a synthetic, psychoactive drug with both stimulant and hallucinogenic properties. Street names for MDMA include Ecstasy, Adam, XTC, hug, beans, and love drug.

HU WELCOMES PIONEERING JOURNALIST TO SHARE ACCOUNT OF THE ASSASSINATION OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.
  Hampton, Va. - Earl Caldwell, a nationally renowned journalist who has witnessed and chronicled some of the most important civil rights events of the past 40 years, will speak April 24 at 5 p.m. in the Scripps Howard auditorium as part of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications' Visiting Lecture Series. Caldwell was the only reporter to witness Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, which will be the focus of his free lecture.

HU TO HOLD SILVER SCHOLARSHIP GALA
         --A Tribute to President Harvey's 25 years of service
  Hampton, Va. - Hampton University will host the Silver Scholarship Gala on Friday, April 25, 2003, at 7 pm in the HU Convocation Center. The gala is a tribute to President William R. Harvey's 25 years of leadership to Hampton University and the community and will include dining and dancing with entertainment provided by MCA Recording artists :"The O.J.'s," known for their classic hits such as "Family Reunion," "Love Train," "For the Love of Money," and "Use to Be My Girl."
There is a $250 scholarship donation. Proceeds will benefit the University's scholarship fund.

HU, EVMS PARTNER FOR MEDICAL PHYSICS GRADUATE PROGRAM

7/2/02 - HU's $92-MILLION NOCTILUCENT CLOUD MISSION SELECTED BY NASA
  Hampton, VA -NASA announced today that Hampton University's Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesophere (AIM) Mission has been selected for satellite flight in NASA's Small Explorer (SMEX) program.
Hampton's research project was one of two missions selected from among 43 proposals submitted by U.S. universities and research centers. HU was selected based on the merits of its scientific, technical, management and cost plans.
