HU ANNOUNCES BLACK HISTORY MONTH ACTIVITIES

Hampton, VA - The Hampton University Office of Student Activities will sponsor a variety of activities during the month of February in celebration of black history. The theme for the HU activities is “African-American History through the Development of African-American Music.”

The following events are open to the public:
• Feb. 4 - "The Beat Goes On - Evolution of Jazz Music" sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Student Center Atrium 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

• Feb. 5 - The Music of Freedom sponsored by the Junior Class and Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., Ogden Hall 7 p.m.

• Feb.13 - Biggers Circle "Cotton Club" sponsored by the Junior Class and Delta Sigma Theta Inc., Student Center Ballroom  7 p.m.

• Feb.14 - National Council of Negro Women Fashion Show, Ogden Hall 7 p.m. 

• Feb.16 - A Sunday Afternoon of Music - Featuring Geri Holins and Company, Dr. Lorraine Bell and others, Ogden Hall 3 p.m. General Admission, $5/College students $2 with I.D.

• Feb.16 - Film Premiere "For Real" Directed and Produced by Tim Reid sponsored by Ogre Phi Ogre XI/Quintessence V, New Millennium Studios, Ogden Hall 8 p.m.  

• Feb.18 - Exploitation of Blacks In the Music Industry sponsored by Student Leaders and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Student Center Theatre 7 p.m.

• Feb.19 - Swing with String Concert, Ogden Hall 7 p.m., free

• Feb. 20 - JazzReach Performing Arts and Education Association Inc., Ogden Hall 7 p.m., free

• Feb. 22 - HU Choir Concert, Ogden Hall 7 p.m.
