HU APPOINTS DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE OF VIRGINIA BEACH
Hampton, VA - President
William R. Harvey announced James L. Antonick as the director of
the College of Virginia Beach, the
Virginia Beach campus located at the Town Center, which is scheduled
to open September 2003.
The state-of-the-art College of Virginia Beach,
located in the city's newly constructed Town Center, will offer
undergraduate
degrees in nursing and hotel/resort management
and graduate degrees in education as well as education certification programs,
addressing the employment needs of the community.
"We will be ideally situated to positively impact the educational and economic
development needs of Virginia Beach and the entire Hampton Roads region," said
Antonick.
Antonick comes to Hampton University with over
25 years of higher education experience, most recently as the director
of the
James L. Antonick Old Dominion
University
Virginia Beach Higher Education Center and as an instructor of International
Trade in the College of Business and Public Administration at ODU.
Antonick has also served as trade representative
during the Baliles and Wilder administrations for the Virginia
Department of World
Trade and the Virginia
Department of Economic Development.
He is a member of the Board of Directors for Virginia
Beach Visions. Being active in the community, Antonick has been
a member of
the Economic Affairs
Council
for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce; chairman, Southeast Regional
Cooperative Education Conference and is a founding member of the Tidewater
Information
Systems Educators.
Antonick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in
History and a Master of Science in counseling from Virginia Commonwealth
University. He has twice
received
the Governor's Award for Excellence in International Market Planning
from the Commonwealth
of Virginia.
