HU STUDENT TO SERVE ON NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE
BOARD
Hampton, VA - Adanna
L. Woodson, a fifth-year architecture student at Hampton University,
was elected to serve on the board of the
National Organization of Minority Architects during the annual
conference held in Chicago in October.
The northern Virginian native will be one of two student representatives
on the board.
“The position is a great honor to represent Hampton University
and the viewpoints of minority architect students around the country,” Woodson
said.
She hopes to foster supportive communication between all groups
within the architecture career field, particularly with the NOMA
student chapters during the next two years of her tenure on the
board.
Woodson plans to participate in regional chapter meetings and
educational workshops to the fullest extent possible.
NOMA, an American Institute of Architects Affiliate, was established
in 1971 by 12 African-American architects to promote professionalism
and camaraderie among minority architects.
Woodson believes the opportunity to network and fellowship with
peers has proven to be time well spent. She encourages fellow students
to contact her through the Hampton University Department of Architecture
for more information about the organization and its objectives
or visit the website www.noma.net.
