RECEIVES BC POWDERS TEACHING AWARD
Hampton, VA - Dr.
Bertha Davis, assistant dean for research in the Hampton University
School of Nursing, has been selected as the recipient of the 2003
BC Powders Excellence in Teaching Award. The award was presented
to Davis on Jan. 30. Dr. James E. Raynor, Jr. of Fayetteville State
University was the runner-up.
Davis, who has taught at Hampton University since
1984, received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Tuskegee University
, a master of science degree from the University of Maryland , a
master of education from Coppin State College and a Ph.D. from Washington
State University . Davis has also served as dean of the Hampton
University School of Nursing and chairperson of the graduate nursing
department. In 2001, Davis was a recipient of the Hampton University
Edward L. Hamm, Sr. Distinguished Teaching Award.
BC Powders recognized the need to reward the hard
work of the professors who ensure that HBCUs produce individuals
who become successful, productive members of society. To ensure
that professors receive recognition for their efforts, BC Powders
established the BC Powders Excellence in Teaching Award.
