HU LISTED NO. 6 ON FORBES.COM "MOST CONNECTED
CAMPUSES" LIST
Hampton, VA - Hampton
University was recently listed No. 6 among the "Most Connected
Campus," in the country according
to a survey conducted by The Princeton Review now available exclusively
on Forbes.com.
HU, the only historically black college listed in the top 50, tied
for sixth with three other universities.
Hampton University provides a total of 1500 computers for student
usage, which equals about three people to every computer on campus.
In 2000, Hampton University was named to Yahoo!'s 100 Most Wired
Universities List. The University was the only university in
the Hampton Roads area of Virginia included in the rankings
and was
one of two historically black universities on the list of 100 universities. Stephens Institute of Technology, Wake Forest University and
Georgia Institute of Technology topped the list compiled by
The Princeton
Review. To identify the colleges, The Princeton Review collated
responses from 106,000 college students from 351 of the leading
U.S. colleges, as well as data from campus administrators. Criteria
included the student/computer ratio, wireless access on campus,
the breadth of the computer science curriculum and comments from
campus students. Some of the questions surveyors queried included "does the
school offer courses in new areas of technology such as computer
security, videogame design, virtual reality, or robotics?" or "does
the school web site support streaming video and audio?" Hampton University is dedicated to the field of technology as
it has held two major technology conferences in the past: the
first
addressed bridging the digital divide, and the second addressed
securing and protecting network infrastructures. To access the complete list of 351 colleges, including the Top
