HU NURSING SCHOOL WELCOMES NEW CLINIC DIRECTOR, CHAIR

Hampton, VA - Dr. Arlene J. Montgomery has been named the chair of the Hampton University Department of Graduate Nursing Education and Darylnet Lyttle has been named the director of the Hampton University Nursing Center.

Montgomery, who has over 30 years experience in clinical nursing, received both her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Hampton University School of Nursing. She received a doctoral degrees from Old Dominion University and did post graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania.

“Dr. Montgomery has held a variety of administrative posts in the School of Nursing including chairperson and interim dean and is well suited to provide leadership to the graduate program,” said Dean of School of Nursing Dr. Pamela Hammond. “Her vision, to systematically increase program offerings based on the national and local need for advanced practice nurses, is to be lauded.”

Lyttle also received her bachelor's and her master's degrees from the Hampton University School of Nursing. She was previously the clinical coordinator in the Nursing Center.

“In Ms. Lyttle’s past experience as the project health coordinator for the Hampton Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions Inc., she established one of the first free clinics in the Hampton-Newport News area: the HELP Free Clinic located within the Hampton Health Department,” Hammond said. “She definitely possesses the kind of talent that can provide creative leadership to the Nursing Center.”
