HU Community Gets Flu Shot

Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs,
Pollie Murphy, gets a flu shot.

Nearly 500 Hampton University students, faculty and staff took advantage of a mass seasonal influenza (flu) vaccination provided by the university, in conjunction with the Hampton Health Department.

The October vaccination was an effort to keep the campus community healthy, and be proactive against the spread of the flu. University officials from the school of pharmacy and the health department were among the medical personnel giving shots, which were available in the needle form or a mist.

HU Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer Doretha Spells was among those who got the shot. She advised others to be proactive, as well.

“I think this is something we should all do this year,” Spells said. “Not only with getting the shot, but taking all the necessary precautions such as frequently washing our hands.”
