How to Update Your Browser

If you're reading this, you may have arrived here by viewing a page that didn't look quite right and had a message to the effect of "your browser is outdated." The internet is a dynamic environment where technology evolves at a rapid rate. That said, developers are continually updating their products to keep up with the needs of the people who use their software. The Office of Web Services goes through great lengths to keep our skills sharp and make sure we code to the most up to date standards. Older browser versions read code differently and as a result render the page differently. The current version of Internet Explorer is 8. If you are using Internet Explorer 6, it's time to update. You can check your IE version by clicking on "help", then select "about internet explorer". An alternative to Internet Explorer is Firefox by the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox is currently issuing version 3.5. To update your browser, you may have to have administrator rights to your computer. If you encounter this issue, check with your department/school's technology contact, they should be able to help. If not, contact the helpdesk at x6931 and tell them you are trying to update your browser. We have provided the links to the browser download pages at their respective manufacturers sites. Simply download and execute the installer.
