Admission to Hampton University is based on an
evaluation of high school grades; an assessment of the subjects
completed in high school; standardized college entrance examination test scores; a character reference; and an essay. Several academic programs: Pharmacy, and the 5 year MBA program have separate and/or additional admissions policies and may require additional information or criteria. To qualify for admission, a candidate must submit the following information by November 1 (Early Action) or the standard deadline of March 1 for fall 2010 admission:
- The signed and completed application form for admission
- Application fee of $35.00 (non-refundable). Only cashier’s check or money order accepted.
- A copy of your social security card.
- Standardized Test Results ACT or SAT scores are required of all students
- OFFICIAL high school transcript
- Three letters of recommendation to include a guidance counselor or teacher
- Essay on one of the following topics:
- 'Describe a personal moral or ethical dilemma and how it impacted your
life';
- 'How Should Today's Youth Combat Negative Moral Influences';
- An autobiographical essay
HIGH SCHOOL - 4 years of English, algebra
I & II, geometry, biology, chemistry with lab, 2 social studies,
and 6 academic electives. Foreign language is not required, but strongly recommended.
Candidates are urged to submit their application for admission as early as possible during their senior year of high school. The University grants credit for (AP) advanced placement, and (IB) International Baccalaureate programs.
TRANSFER STUDENTS - Must submit official
college transcript(s) and your high school transcript with less than 30 transferable semester hours
(60 quarter hours); SAT or ACT scores. Students with a cumulative 2.5 grade point average in college coursework receive the highest consideration for admission. The School of Pharmacy has separate and additional admissions policies and requires completion of supplemental forms.
