Harvey Library provides many services to the faculty, students, and staff studying with Hampton University via the Roanoke Higher Education Center. Users can access Harvey Library resources from the RHEC library, their offices, or homes. How do I connect to Harvey Library's resources remotely?
- Go to the Harvey Library web site. All of the databases, and some of the electronic resources offered through HUWebcat, are restricted to registered students, staff, and faculty at Hampton University. When you try to access the databases remotely you will be prompted for your Hampton University InfoTech Account UserName and Password. If you do not have an established account, please contact the Academic Technology Mall Help Desk at Hampton University at (727) 727- 6931 and request an InfoTech Account. You will be unable to access the databases without an InfoTech account !
How do I get journal articles ?
- Databases: Harvey Library subscribes to more than 120 different databases that contain either full-text articles or citations for journal articles, books, and other electronic resources. Go to the Harvey Library web site and choose Databases from the Research category.
- E-Journal Finder: search or browse full-text online periodicals that Harvey Library subscribes to. You will be able to download full-text articles from the E-Journal Finder. Go to the Harvey Library web site and choose E-Journal Finder from the Research category.
- Print Journals: If you choose to visit the Harvey Library, the print journals collection is located on the 2nd Floor.
How do I contact staff and/or librarians at Harvey Library?
- Contacting the Librarians : This list provides phone numbers and email addresses of the Librarians at Harvey Library. A Library Departmental Directory and a Library Staff Directory are also available.
How do I get research assistance from a Librarian at Harvey Library?
- Ask-A-Librarian Services: call the Reference Desk at (757) 727- 5379. Click on Ask-A-Librarian for hours of operation.
- Use Email Reference and send the Librarians questions by email at ereference@hamptonu.edu. You will receive an answer by email within 48 hours or sooner.
How do I find general information on the services and collections of Harvey Library?

What resources are available to use at the Roanoke Higher Education Center itself?
