The Hampton University William R. and Norma B. Harvey Library seeks a part -time program assistant who will assist with grant related activities for the Leading the Charge: Advancing the Recruitment, Retention and Inclusion of People of Color within the Library and Information Science Field grant. This is a part-time 29-30 hours per week grant funded position for 3 years.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct grant administrative tasks

• Create, organize, and distribute event promotional materials

• Establish and maintain conference outreach

• Order supplies and materials

• Coordinate grant participant travel arrangements


Associate’s Degree

• Strong customer service skills

• One year of experience in event planning and coordination

• Demonstrated professionalism

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Demonstrated problem solving skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Required to some work nights and weekends


• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience working in a Library or Museum
• Experience in broad range of event planning: three years
