The Hampton University Department of Computer Science invites nominations and applications for both tenure track and non-tenured faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2021.

Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton. It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution. The Department of Computer Science offers three undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of .Science, Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems and Cyber Security – Computer Science Track. In addition the Department offers two Master of Science Degrees: Computer Science and Cyber Security. The Department of Computer Science has accredited programs from ABET and Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. The Department areas of interest are Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Human Computer Interaction, Cyber Security as well as other current technology related areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

Faculty in the Department of Computer Science are expected to teach as well as conduct research in their areas of expertise. The Department of Computer Science faculty works collaboratively within the department and across the Institution. The faculty is expected to strongly engage with the students and maintain the department’s high standards.

Qualifications

Faculty seeking a tenure track position must have a PhD in a computer science related field. At a minimum, faculty must have a Master of Science degree in Computer Science for a non-tenured position.
