The Hampton University Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry invites nominations and applications to teach General Chemistry and other Chemistry courses at Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on experience, beginning Fall 2021.   

Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton.  It is a privately endowed, coeducational, nonsectarian institution.  The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry offers three baccalaureate degree tracks:  the traditional B.S. in Chemistry; a B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Forensic Chemistry; and a B.S. in Biochemistry.  All three tracks are certified by the American Chemical Society.  The Department also offers a terminal Master's Degree in Chemistry and a Master in Teaching Chemistry. 

Duties and Responsibilities

A cohesive research plan will be expected, along with a complete understanding of the curriculum.  The successful candidate can reach the hearts and minds of the students through successful teaching methods. 

Qualifications

A transcript of the terminal degree (doctorate) is required.  The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry. The candidate must also have a distinguished scholarly record demonstrated by documented evidence of teaching, research and service accomplishments.  Other desirable qualifications include a history of external funding and a publication record.  Salary is commensurate with rank and experience.
