Description

The Food Service Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day foodservice operation, achieving the customers' highest satisfaction by supervising the kitchen and front of the house personnel. The Food Service director is responsible for monitoring staff development, training, coaching, food safety and sanitation, HACCP, and any and all matters related to the campus dining operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise all subordinate managers, supervisors and staff
  • Directs the purchasing, receiving, storing and preparing of food and related products
  • Responsible for training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates
  • Schedules department working hours, personnel, and work assignments to maintain quality service
  • Interviews, hires, and trains associates
  • Maintains excellent relationships with clients other departments within the campus community
  • Develops merchandising and marketing strategies and tactics that will increase sales and margin for the Food Service Department
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and/or Holidays
  • Facility Cleanliness and Food Safety utilizing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), ServSafe, and facility policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills in order to be an effective communicator with both internal and external individuals
  • Must have up-to-date knowledge on food service industry trends
  • Minimum of 5 years college & university food service management experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
  • Minimum of 2 years multi-unit food service management experience
  • Ability to instruct others in food preparation, service and sanitation tasks
  • Must demonstrate successful employment in cooking for large groups (500+ people);
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time standing;
