Description

The Director of the Student Success Center is a full time, 12 month employee who reports to the Vice President for Administrative Services is responsible for establishing new and improved retention efforts; collect and analyze student performance data and select, hire, train, and supervise daily activities for the Student Success Advisors and the Administrative Assistant. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the Student Success Center, which includes undergraduate advisement, retention and persistence programming; coordinating the SSC Tutorial Program and the Young Diplomats Summer Program. The Director will serve on the Academic Leadership Team and the Student Development Leadership team; submit a mid-year and annual report to include recurrent data and update university leadership. The Director is responsible for realizing the objectives and goals of the Student Success Center by providing direct services to students and implementing academic success initiatives through strategic coordination and planning

Duties and Responsibilities

· Collaborate with School Deans, the Office of Admissions, and other relevant departments to analyze enrollment and other pertinent data to develop retention and persistence strategies

· Maintain a database to track advisement and student progress by Schools and majors

· Train Advisors on the College Student Inventory and monitor Individual Plans for Academic Success (IPASS) completions to insure timely intervention

· Assess the current retention plan and implement retention strategies to increase the University retention and graduation rates to 85%

· Serve as Chairperson for all students who are Undeclared majors using Navis SuperStrong to assist students with declaring a major

· Establish and implement a program specific for transfer and non-traditional students

· Coordinate Project Success efforts through a partnership with ECMC

· Plan, implement, and coordinate training sessions and workshops for faculty and staff members

· Serve as a key liaison between the Student Success Center and academic departments

· Coordinate Faculty Development/Advisor program

· Coordinate ongoing orientation programming for continuing students

· Create and publish an annual calendar of Academic Wellness workshops for students

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in a related discipline with a minimum of five years of demonstrated expertise and success with increasing retention and graduation rates. Must demonstrate exceptional organizational and managerial skills. The successful candidate must be proficient at oral and written communications with strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills and have the ability to handle competing priorities. The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have experience with database applications.
