The William R. and Norma B. Harvey Library is seeking applicants for the position of Library Technician.

This position maintains and supports computer hardware and software for the Harvey Library. *This position is grant-funded.

Duties and Responsibilities

The job duties of the library systems technician are as follows:

  1. Administer library network including web server, active directory, and group policy objects. Perform duties for system user management including creating, deleting, and updating users on the system.

  2. Serve as the administrator of the library’s SIRSI network management system by performing installations, upgrades, and backups for the SIRSI system. Serve as the contact with the SIRSI Helpdesk to resolve issues with the systems operation.

  3. Provide training and instruction to library staff on the use of the various SIRSI modules.

  4. Produce HTML code and scripts to update the design of the online catalog interface, online tutorials, library webpage, and other web based applications.

  5. Plan, design, and implement online and web-based applications and systems, including instructional and educational software for the support and delivery of information services.

  6. Assist with the technical design and implementation of online tutorials. Select and use software to develop online tutorials.

  7. Provide technical expertise and support for revising the library’s web pages.

  8. Perform duties for the maintenance of the library’s ILLIAD server and EZ Proxy.

  9. Coordinate technology projects with related campus departments for implementation.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Associate’s degree in technology field required.

  • Strong customer-service background.

  • Willingness to engage students in the learning process.


  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
