Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Health Center, this position works to mobilize, create and sustain campus-wide health promotion practices in order to create an environment that promotes student success and personal development. Office Hours are Monday –Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. After-hours and weekends hours are required to hold educational and awareness events for the campus community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate theory-based and evidence-informed health promotion strategies, policies , programs and services

  • Develop strategic plans, goals and measureable objectives for health promotion programs and services

  • Collaborate with campus, student groups and external stakeholders to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to health for students

  • Track trends in student health status and behavior

  • Participate in research and writing grants, publications and presentations

  • Present to student body, faculty, staff or parents as needed regarding various health topics

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multitask

  • Ability to provide engaging, informative presentations to students, faculty/staff, parents

  • Team player with a spirit of collaboration with campus and student groups

  • Compassionate, with an interest in helping young people

  • Must work after-hours and weekends to hold educational and awareness events for the campus community

Qualifications

  • Master’s or advanced degree. Most relevant degree areas include public health, health promotion, and health policy or health education.

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)

  • Minimum of two years related health promotion work experience; preferably in a college setting

  • Evidence of ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing health promotion needs of college students
