Description
Hampton University is seeking a secretary who will assist the Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OSHER) with various administrative and clerical support tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain the filing system for Osher members and Virginia Beach Food Service classes.

Provide quarterly newsletters for Ocher members.

May plan, coordinate and organize Open House activities yearly.

Perform daily clerical duties such as, answering, screening telephone calls and Banner data entry.

Maintain Osher class schedules and calendar of events.

Greet visitors and callers; respond to inquiries and provide additional assistance when necessary.

Order office supplies and serve as back-up for general office duties.

Maintain budgets and follow-up on outstanding requisitions.

Coordinate with the Director to ensure daily classes are properly staffed and supervised by class monitors.

Sort and distribute incoming mail and faxes.

Responsible for Virginia Beach Food Service Management program registration, input students in Banner and make timely certification and recertification money deposit.

Update Osher class schedules every six weeks and email schedules to members.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The candidate must possess at a minimum a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years of related work experience.
Qualifications

Must possess good interpersonal skills.

Must be organized and possess the ability to multi-task.

Must possess good communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites and applications to include Excel and Access.

Proficiency with BANNER is preferred, but not required.
