Description

The Secretary for Sports Information is responsible for assisting both the Director of Sports Information and Assistant Director of Sports Information. Duties include, but are not limited to, answering telephones, ordering office supplies, serving as primary media contact for multiple sports (i.e. Men’s & Women’s Tennis. Secondary for Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Softball and Football), producing media guides, game notes, news releases for applicable sports and feature stories, compiles all statics for assigned sports and reports to NCAA, Big South, and Conference office, scorekeeper for all home games, facilitates HU’s social media outlets for all assigned sports, and assisting the Sports Information staff with additional duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the ordering office supplies

  • Answering telephones

  • Responsible for communicating with media for multiple sports (i.e.Men’s & Women’s Tennis. Secondary for Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Softball and Football)

  • Responsible for writing news articles for applicable sports

  • Facilitates all of Hampton University’s social media outlets for assigned sports

  • Compiles all Statistics for all assigned sports (i.e.Men’s & Women’s Tennis. Secondary for Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Softball and Football)

  • Prepare all Statistics reports to NCAA, Big South, and Conference office

  • Scorekeeper for all home games

  • Creative work for marketing including web, print, and electronic outlets, publications, programs, and recruiting materials

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Applicants should be proficient using office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners and typewriters.
  • The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office software and email.
  • Familiarity with the Banner software system is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communication or related field and at least one to two years of relevant experience
