HU Circle of Nations is the New Focal Point of Campus

The newest addition to Hampton University's campus is now completed. The circle of grass in front of Robert C. Ogden Auditorium is now surrounded by 24 flags, which represent the countries of currently enrolled undergraduate students. The flags of the United States of America and Hampton University are located in the middle of what is now called the Circle of Nations.

"Hampton University's founder, Gen. Samuel Chapman Armstrong, was a proponent of worldliness and was quoted as saying 'Hampton University's students girdled the world. The Circle of Nations is another example of the worldliness of the students enrolled at Hampton," said HU President Dr. William R. Harvey.

New equestrian club to raise awareness...

Jason Moore, Brittany Henry and Edwin Jones in Hollywood, Calif. this summer enjoying some of the perks of being in the FDL program."A horse is a horse, of course of course…" But, did you know that eight horses call Strawberry Banks their home? Or, that Hampton University offers the only Western saddle-style program anywhere along the East Coast?

Since its inception in 2002, HU has offered an introductory level Western Equestrian course. Offered by the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) and taught by instructor Suzie Merrick, the course provides students with the basic knowledge and experiences of beginning Western horsemanship.
