Students Shout 'Yes We Did' on Election Night
Over the past year, many Hampton University students have supported Barack Obama’s 2008 Presidential Campaign by attending rallies, volunteering and wearing campaign paraphernalia. On Oct. 5, hip-hop artist Nas came to the HU Convocation Center with the Obama Campaign for Change to host a rally to encourage students and members of the community to register and vote.
Homecoming 2008 Was a Good Time for All
Hip-hop fans got their fix at the Monica, Rick Ross and Ryan Leslie concert.
Another crowd got to sway to rhythm and blues at the Tamia and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly concert.
Alumni and current students got to mix and mingle at the bazaar, enjoying vendors and music outside the Hampton University Student Center.
There was a little something for everyone at this year’s HU Homecoming, “The Impulse Of A New Generation ‘Reconnecting The Hand, Head and Heart.’” Student-run community service initiatives, a comedy show and step show were also part of the week’s activities. Speaking as a 1996 alumna and as the HU vice president of student affairs, Dr. Barbara Inman said Homecoming was, indeed, well rounded.
“Homecoming 2008 was exceptionally wonderful, filled with a lot of activities for the students and the alumni,” she said. “It was great to see so many classmates that traveled from all over the country to attend Homecoming this year.”
