The Terpsichorean Dance Company had its 2009 Fall Concert Sept. 25 in Ogden Hall. The night’s dance routines included a tribute to Michael Jackson. The performance was part of the Hampton University Parent’s Weekend events.

The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) Inc. recently reaffirmed the accreditation of the Hampton University Master of Architecture program for a six-year term. The HU Department of Architecture is the only accredited architecture program in Hampton Roads, Va. and one of only three accredited architecture programs in Virginia.

Disney
Students observed projects from past Disney
ImagiNations competitions.

The HU Department of Architecture hosted Walt Disney Imagineering on Monday, Sept. 28. They presented the 2010 Walt Disney ImagiNations design competition to students and faculty from all different majors. The competition is designed to find fresh talent in students. It is used to select interns who will help Disney design rides, hotels, and other attractions not yet imagined for Disney theme parks and resorts. Honors College and William R. Harvey Leadership Institute

Students worked on the butterfly garden at
the VA Hospital for the 9/11 Day of Service.

HU Honors College and the William R. Harvey Leadership Institute students participated in the United We Serve National Day of Service and Remembrance in the Commonwealth. Students worked at the Hampton VA Hospital on the maintenance of the butterfly garden. Later, students joined Dr. Jarris Taylor, associate director of the William R. Harvey leadership Institute/Honors College, Hampton Mayor Molly Ward and many other volunteers and residents at a picnic where student volunteers served residents. The mayor presented Taylor, who is also chairman of the governor’s advisory board on national and community service, the Governor’s Proclamation for the Day of Service.
