Welcome Back! Nothing
is more important to a great future than a great education. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships makes it our
mission to “put students first” and to work diligently
to provide you with the best possible financial package for college within applicable guidelines and annual appropriations.
Our counseling staff takes pride in working one-on-one with you
and your family throughout your college years.
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships participates in a
wide range of federal and state aid programs. We make every effort to assist all degree-seeking
students with a combination
of need-based grants, scholarships, loans and student employment, for those who qualify.
About 80 percent of Hampton
University students receive some form of financial assistance.
To make sure you receive the best possible financial aid award,
we ask that you remember the following:
- To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
as soon as possible after January 1st.
- To apply and submit
the FAFSA electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
We encourage all of our students to apply no later than February 15th. Our
priority processing date is February 15th. In order to meet this priority
processing date, we must have a valid expected family contribution
(EFC) on file. Due to limited federal funds, we make no guarantees or assurances that students with the lowest possible EFC (Pell-eligible) will receive additional aid. All financial aid applications received after the
February 15th deadline, will be processed in the date order received.
- To be eligible to receive federal student financial aid, you must meet and maintain the standards of satisfactory academic progress policy toward a degree as defined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
- If applicable, you must satisfy all outstanding requirements affecting eligibility.
Our goal for the upcoming academic year is to make financial aid award(s) available on-line for all on-time and eligible current students, with no outstanding requirements, by July 15th. To help us accomplish our goal, please respond promptly to
all correspondence and/or telephone call(s) from our office concerning
your financial aid status. If you do not see your financial aid award on-line by July 15th, and you have NO outstanding requirements, please contact us at 1-800-624-3341 and speak with your assigned Financial Aid Advisor. We use the first letter of your last name to determine your Financial Aid Advisor.
For your convenience, our office hours
are: Monday – Friday: 9am – 12pm & 1pm - 5pm.
Each
student that enters the University will be assigned a financial
aid counselor. Our experienced counselors are eager to work with
you individually to answer your questions about financial aid.
We want to make the financial aid process as efficient as possible!
